The Tallahassee Animal Service Center is a city-operated facility that works to improve the lives of abused animals, including dogs, cats, horses, etc.

They work with animal control to remove these animals from the dangerous conditions that they are living in, and take them to the shelter, where they are then treated and placed for adoption.

Part of their Mission Statement reads:

"Our goals are simple too, and all focus around the primary goal of maximizing the number of lives we can save by:
* Increase Adoptions
* Decrease Euthanasia
* Increase Spay and Neutering
* Expand Educational Opportunities"

Volunteer Options

If you are unable to commit to a pet at the moment, but still want to help, volunteering is a great option.

The shelter is open to student volunteers and is a semester long. They look for young adults who are mature and dependable, among other things. If you're interested in pursuing a position at the shelter you can go to http://www.talgov.com/animals/animalservices.aspx
