Mini Presentation
I chose to do my presentation on the new H&M Autumn Commercial. In this commercial you are able to see women from all walks of life-different body types, races, and age- with the purpose being to tear down the whole "one-size fits all" belief.
I found this commercial to important because I know for myself personally, I have never seen people, especially women, who look like me on television, so this commercial is able to do that for a wide variety of women. H&M made sure to incorporate as many different representations of women as possible.
I feel that the commercial was able to sell their clothes as well as focus on the woman herself at the same. Usually when I see fashion commercials on television, the camera isn't as focused on the woman herself, but more so the products that they're trying to sell.
Also the remake of Tom James's song "She's A Lady," remade by the duo Lion Babe, was more focused on women empowerment, opposed to original that was more objectifying of females.
The intended audience of this commercial is obviously women, but not just skinny women, instead all women of all different body shapes and more.
I don't think anyone would really view this commercial offensive, unless they were aware that one of the women in the commercial is transgender, so if a person doesn't believe in something like that, they would dislike the commercial.
